Marvin Divine, if you don’t know him yet, is an up and coming hip-hop artist from Maryland. I’m supporting him now for a pretty long time and finally he has established a great fanbase. After his first release on iTunes last week, ”Be Free” was played on Wiz Khalifa’s own DJ Bonics on his major Pop radio station Wired 96.5 in Philly, which was crazy. And I reached out to Marvin for this interview, big thanks to him and I truly hope you enjoy reading it.

First off, thanks so much for taking some time to do this interview with us! Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started. I’m a 20 year old British-American Pop/Hip Hop artist from Maryland and I love having fun! I started at the age of eleven when I moved to the US from England and I’ve been working ever since.

And is Marvin Divine your real name? Marvin Divine isn’t legally my name but everybody knows me as Marvin Divine! Even people I grew up with refer to me as Marvin Divine which is crazy. Divine isn’t my last name but while I make music that’s what I’d like to be known as.

You’re from the United Kingdom but currently living in Maryland. How has coming from the UK influenced your music, and has moving to America changed that in any way?

Coming from the UK has made me a very versatile artist. I love Pop/Rock music thanks to my days in the UK and I love Hip Hop thanks to days in the US. I’m able to make all types of songs without sounding like I’m “selling out” and stuff.

Who are some of your biggest inspirations in music? Like, who do you look up to most in the music industry?

My biggest inspiration in music is Adam Levine. I love how he writes his records and puts so much attitude into his voice as he sings them. I’m not really a singer but I do what I can while in the studio. I make sure my lyrics and my voice really compliment each other no matter what.  And I listen to a lot of Maroon 5, Gym Class Heroes and Wiz Khalifa because those are people who love to have fun and spread a positive energy in their music.

If you could collab with any artist on a track, who would you choose? I would collab with Adam Levine of course! lol I’d work with him for the same reasons I’m inspired by him. I’d love to write songs for Taylor Swift and Jessie J too.

How would you describe your music and why?

My music is free, fun and for everybody. I love making all types of songs. I feel like there are no limits to the music I make and that’s what will help me earn a name in the music industry one day.

What’s your favorite track that you’ve ever made? My favorite is ”Dreamers” which has over 135.000 views on our channel. I’m glad you like it and thanks for the support! I don’t really have a favorite songs because I make and promote music during the moment I’m going through what I’m talking about on the song. Right now my new single “Be Free” is my favorite song because I’m going through it right now. It will be on my upcoming EP “Yeah, I Said It” which drops this August so I hope you all check that out on iTunes!

What are your musically plans for the summer?

Just expect a good time and great production! Thanks to the internet I’ve been working with new producers from all over the globe while I still record in a home studio. I’m really taking my time with the few songs I’m making because that’s how I like to work. As for features, I’m not sure yet lol. My goal is to let people understand me as an artist before I introduce them to others. I want you all to know me for me first. You can expect to see the “Be Free” music video on MTV this summer and all over the blog sites in a few weeks so look out for that! And I actually just headlined my very first concert all the way in Montana which was crazy. I definitely see myself knocking out a few shows this summer.

What’s a day in the life of Marvin Divine? Get up and make things happen any way possible.

What is your favorite drink? Crush Orange Soda What is your favorite meal? Pizza What are your favorite sneakers? Vans and Chucks. I own a few Jordan’s but I prefer simple clothing and not flashy stuff. What are your favorite headphones? Monster headphones for sure! Everybody make sure you get a pair of those after this interview! If you had one night left to live, how would you spend it? I would spend time with my family and friends while making a video saying how much I love my fans!

Anything else you’d like to tell MUSIC4MONTAGE and your fans?

I just want to thank everybody for the love and support. It truly means the world to me and I can’t wait for everybody to see what will happen next! And thanks for the interview and all of the support Koen!
